PE

At Saint Pierre we are extremely passionate about Physical Education.

Building confidence, developing skills and working towards every child’s own personal strengths are at the centre of our ethos. Children are encouraged to take part in weekly PE sessions over the course of a week from Nursery to Year 6. This includes a weekly swimming lesson at an external venue from Year 1 and a games session.

We are constantly expanding our range of sport so that children have a more rounded skill set, going far beyond the basic curriculum.

  • Tag Rugby
  • Football
  • Tennis
  • Rounders
  • Cricket
  • Hockey
  • Netball
  • Athletics
  • Cross country
  • Dodgeball
  • Basketball
  • Multi-skills

These also extend to afterschool clubs as extra curricular activities and events which can be found on our sports page.

Going the extra mile

The children also gain an understanding of the importance of a healthy lifestyle and how being physically active is a key element. We incorporate the significance of healthy choices into our monthly ‘Nourish’ assemblies. Not only do they learn vital sport and health skills, but they are also taught life skills. Through PE, the children gain an understanding of teamwork and how to support and encourage one another. This is then carried through their sporting events such as sports day and fixtures against local schools. We want our children to be motivated, dedicated but most of all respectful when representing their school in sport.
