Leadership is something we feel passionately about at Saint Pierre School and therefore we ensure we offer the children across the school, as many opportunities as possible to develop their leadership skills.
From reception this starts with leading their line when walking through the school and learning from each other; the roles and responsibilities increase as they progress through the school. Class leaders are elected to represent their classmates on the school council.
Our Year 5 and Year 6 children have added responsibilities, which include being play pals (supporting younger members of the school community at break and lunchtime), organisational and supervision tasks.
We also teach British Values through the democratic process of voting for our school council representatives and head boy and girl.
Head Pupils
A Head Boy and Head Girl along with two deputies are elected at the end of year 5 to take up their positions in year 6. All pupils and staff vote in this process.
In a multi-faceted role these pupils represent the school at events, present regularly in assembly, monitor pupil’s uniform and help comfort and advise fellow pupils.
School Council
It is important that the pupils have an active voice in the school. We have a School Council which consists of a group of pupils who have been elected by their classes to represent the views of the pupils and come up with ideas to improve our school.
The Council is led by the Head Boy and Head Girl and pupils from reception to year 6 attend. Meetings are also attended by the proprietor and members of the Senior Leadership Team.
